1978 – China Opens Up

Since the reform and opening-up of China, many Chinese businesses are expanding overseas and it has since become increasingly easier for foreign businesses to enter the Chinese market. With the recent trends in the Chinese policy of softening and relaxation of immigration laws, with the promotion of Innovation and consumer-driven economy and better protection of Intellectual Property, Chinese firms are being encouraged to go global and the country is welcoming foreign firms, especially in the tertiary industry, to seriously consider China.

2013 – The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)

The launch of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which is ranked among the grandest economic plans in history, continues to create huge opportunities for many foreign businesses to support major Chinese investments along the regions of the belt. The Initiative is set to connect over 65 countries through its land and marine routes. Trillions of dollars’ worth of projects are expected to attract diverse businesses and foreign firms are expected to have some form of participation.

In line with these opportunities, the CGG forum has been actively engaged with Belt and Road Initiative and has been co-hosting several events that are associated.  Recently, the Silk Road City Institute of Silk Road Cities Alliance together with Beijing Belt & Road Cooperative Community and in partnership with China Going Global Forum hosted an annual strategic forum – Silk Road Ark Forum (SRAF) held at Beijing Millennium Hotel. Besides, LC Venture, who is responsible for China Going Global Forum, had participated in a high-profile investment deal between a UK Insurance firm and a Chinese construction giant to take part in the $40bn Melaka Gateway project in Malaysia.
